The Kläger Group Focuses on Sustainability – Transition to Green Power from Wind Energy

The Kläger Group takes new steps in energy procurement. Amid the growing complexity of the energy market, the Kläger Group is adopting a sustainable solution by partnering with node.energy, a specialist in innovative energy supply concepts.

Since January 1, 2025, the Kläger Group has sourced a significant portion of its electricity needs from a wind farm in Wittighausen, Baden-Wuerttemberg. This wind farm, consisting of eight wind turbines (each with a capacity of 660 kW), is owned by BayWa r.e., with whom Kläger Plastik GmbH has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Through this agreement, the entire Kläger Group is supplied with wind power directly and without intermediaries. In addition, node.energy ensures the supply of additional energy from the distribution grid.

Green Power with Proof of Origin

With energy from the wind farm and its own photovoltaic system, the Kläger Group will achieve over 50 percent pure green power by 2025, as documented by proofs of origin. The remaining energy needs will be flexibly covered through the spot market. This approach allows the company to respond to price fluctuations and benefit from negative prices while ensuring supply security.

A Milestone in Energy Procurement

The new energy procurement strategy was necessary to secure the group’s energy supply sustainably and economically.

“The partnership with node.energy and the direct procurement of wind power are important steps for us to achieve our sustainability goals. At the same time, we ensure maximum flexibility and stability in a challenging market environment,” explains Kristian Kläger, CEO of the Kläger Group.

“In times of high energy costs and fluctuating markets, direct power purchase agreements with wind and solar parks are key to stable and economical company supply. We are pleased to support the Kläger Group in the most economical use of its own photovoltaic system and in handling the additional green power deliveries,” adds Michael Blichmann, Managing Director of node.energy.
